After a big day doing workshops with Jac, then attending a pretty out there birthday celebration of our dear friend Ling, at the Green Papaya Project in Kamuning, we topped off the evening by going to Deep Fried, which is a monthly dance party organise by the man behind Groovenation and Terno Recordings, no other than Toti Dalmacion. Toti used to do Consortium back in the 90s, which I have to admit I’ve not heard of, and sadly was too young to be attending, thanks to his blog I was able to go back in time.

Anyway, Deep Fried is a must for true, open-minded and adventurous house-heads who want more than the usual dance music played in regular clubs in town, this is the event where you can dig, good quality modern electronic dance music. So make sure you come and shake your butts with us next time.

Thanks to those lovely people whom I once again bumped into the dance floor, and to you Toti D., I salute you for your perseverance!

I missed out on the saGuijo anniversary, which I was planning to go to but because of a friend visiting me for the first time at my place, I opted out of the idea. I rarely get a visitor in my place, not only it’s situated in a dingy area of Pasay, but it’s not exactly a place where people would like to spend their precious time, (okay, maybe I’m being too harsh on my habitation) so I decided to be a good host.
Anyway, I committed myself to go to Lunes sa Yakal gig, and the venue was in Warehouse 135 on Yakal Street. Terno Recordings musicians were the one featured, and although it’s a Monday night, it turned out alright as concluded by Toti – the man behind Terno.
It was nice seeing familiar faces, and one of them is Swissy. Swissy is one of Terno’s talent, and if you have been to saGuijo this past few months you’ve certainly seen or heard her play. She was part of the Hopia Mani Popcorn 2, where she bravely cover Cinderella’s Superstar ng Buhay Ko (Superstar of My Life). Prior to that she already released her first single “How It All Started” both on FM radio and MTV Philippines.
Hanging out with her is painless, cos she’s just so easy to be with. So we talked about this, that, and silly things last night. But I was more than happy to have a copy of her debut CD “She Smiles“, which is out now. If you like listening to The Sundays or Bic Runga, you will probably enjoy this CD like I do. One thing that always grab me in listening to musician is, if they write their own songs and am glad Swissy does.

Last night was another experience in my lifetime.
I always love being surrounded by musical people, maybe because I’m frustrated in  playing any musical instrument. That I just immerse myself in becoming an “audience” of these musical type of people, and that’s not being a critic too, although I do have my opinions.
It was another night of Terno Inferno at saGuijo, where all these bands from the same label show off their skills in music, and I just love the balance of it. From the “quiet is the new loud” sort to the “sonically enhanced” grandness.
Kudos to Outerhope, Swissy, Sleepwalk Circus, Musical O, Giniling Festival, Paramita and Up Dharma Down for the musical journey they provide this night.
And thank you Eon for the lovely company!
After that musical debauchery, I head off to meet Cam, who I befriended because we both adore Alanis – and more so now because we share a common ground in many things in this life.
We hang out till Sunday evening at her flat, talking our heads off, and giggling again for no reason.
Thank you Cam for sharing this jlp moment with me! 😉
